研究方向及成果:

1.物理海洋学

研究内容:地球系统资料同化,耦合模式,生态模式;

主要成果:主持研发了世界范围内第一个耦合模式资料同化系统,该系统所作的年代际气候预测代表美国NOAA参与国际政府间气候协作组织第五次评估报告(IPCC-AR5)。目前在所有IPCC-AR5预报系统中,该系统是唯一一个能无缝隙地制作季节预报到年代际预测的系统。

2.数值模拟与数值预测

研究内容:全球气候模式、区域气候模式、延伸期预测;

主要成果:主持科技部国家重点研发计划(两洋一海区域超高分辨率多圈层耦合延伸期预测系统)突破区域超高分辨率多圈层耦合模式开发、结合动力降尺度的耦合资料同化系统研发过程中的关键技术,实现区域内动力环境多时空尺度、全要素和无缝隙涵盖的延伸期预测,建立了超高分辨率多圈层耦合延伸期数值预测系统。

3.气候学与气候系统

研究内容:气候分析和预报,重建历史上台风分布和时间变化;

主要成果:在理解了大气中大尺度背景环流对中小尺度扰动的调制作用基础上,提出了一个大尺度背景调整方案来解决这一经典的科学难题。提出的新方案在用观测信息较正模式状态的同时,能够把台风活动的空间分布和时间变化正确地反演出来,从而提高了气候分析和预报的精度。更重要的是,通过对新方案产生的气候估计的诊断分析发现,由于台风活动强化了热带海洋的混合效率,海洋作为一个整体提高了热含量,因而能够影响较长时间的气候变率,相应的具有台风活动的初始条件能够提高气候模式的可预报性。
