Large-scale ocean circulation

       

        大洋环流是海洋中能量、热量和物质输运的重要方式之一,在海洋生态系统和气候低频变异中起着重要作用。本研究团队基于海洋动力学和热力学,结合现场调查、实验室实验、数值模拟等手段,通过构建全球和区域海洋能量、动量、涡量和热量的平衡框架,研究大洋环流形成及变异机理,并在此基础上探讨大洋环流与陆架及边缘海环流的相互作用机制,研究大洋环流在全球和区域海洋环境变异中的贡献和动力学作用。本单元主要关注以下几个方面的研究:

        1.大洋环流与能量平衡。

        2.大洋环流的变异机理。

        3.大洋环流与陆架及边缘海环流相互作用。

 

Ocean circulation is a major way to transport and re-distribute energy, heat and water mass in the global ocean and plays an important role in adjusting the ocean ecosystems and low-frequency climate changes. Based on the dynamical analysis, in-situ observations, laboratorial and numerical modeling, the direction of Large-scale ocean circulation focus on studying the mechanism of ocean circulation and its variability. By setting up the frame balance of energy, momentum, vorticity and heat in global and regional basins, as well as studying interaction between open ocean and marginal seas, the main task of Large-scale ocean circulation is to understand the dynamical role of ocean circulation in  physical environmental changes.

The main aspects of the research are as follows:

1. Ocean circulation and energy balance

2. Dynamics of ocean circulation variations

3. Interaction between open ocean and marginal seas
